If you want to understand likely trends in cybercrime, don’t try to layer digital technology onto analogue crooks. Simply look at what the automobile or construction or legal or financial sector is doing. Cyber-criminals will be doing the same.
This is probably why so many cyber-security conferences and research papers now obsess over one looming question: how will criminals use AI to commit crime? Everyone is slightly terrified by the prospect.
The good news is the bad guys might not be as advanced as you might think. At least not yet.
